Project: South Ockendon E&I Upgrade

  • Client: Cadent Gas
  • Value: £100,000
  • Duration: 4 weeks

South Ockendon PRS scope consisted of a full electrical upgrade including a FDB main switch, earth leakage unit, 15KVA 1:1 transformer, distribution system supplying building services, and external site lighting within potentially explosive atmospheres.

The instrumentation scope consisted of a new RTU telemetry panel, built in house in our panel building facility. An FAT was undertaken with the client to prove functionality and software control prior to delivery to site.

All field cabling was replaced, together with new pressure transmitters, differential transmitters, temperature devices, UPS system, security system and camera system, including new stainless-steel instrument stands to increase life expectancy.

A new fail-safe governor control system was designed to control the outlet flow to the local district governor, giving both local and remote control.

All small-bore pipework and instrument stands were replaced, and pressure tested back to the tap off point on the main pipeline.

Instrumentation was undertaken during a schedule NRO (Non-routine operation) whereby strict deadlines were met to deliver the system back to full service. This required proactive planning with both Cadent and DNCC 8 weeks prior to the scheduled date.
