Project Overview
The Saltwick Offtake project involved a complete site rebuild, including pipeline diversions, electrical and instrumentation upgrades, and the introduction of a new flow metering philosophy. The project required meticulous planning and execution to ensure minimal disruption and seamless integration with existing infrastructure.
Simkiss Group was awarded Phase 1 of the project, which involved the supply, installation, and delivery of critical components, including:
- Telemetry Kiosk
- Switchgear Kiosk
- DNO Intake Kiosk
Challenges & Approach
One of the key challenges for this project was the safe transportation of heavy, complex equipment from our base in Manchester to the Saltwick site in Whitby (Newcastle-Upon-Tyne). To address this, we worked with an approved HIAB contractor, ensuring that the logistics of moving the kiosks were handled safely and efficiently.
The kiosks themselves housed intricate switchgear and control panels, which required detailed planning to ensure accessibility and functionality. We paid special attention to the aesthetic aspects of the kiosks, ensuring they were not only operationally sound but also visually appealing and integrated into their environment.
Key Deliverables
- Safe transport and delivery of kiosks and associated equipment.
- Precise planning and execution to ensure kiosks were accessible and met all required specifications.
- Seamless integration with the broader Saltwick Offtake site rebuild.
- Attention to detail in both functionality and aesthetics.
